Brussels project genomineerd voor MIPIM Award

Het project Mondrian in het hartje van het Europese centrum in Brussel is genomineerd voor de MIPIM Awards 2005 in de categorie Business Centres. Het gebouw is ontworpen door ASSAR architecten uit Brussel en ontwikkeld door Allfin. MIPIM vindt dit jaar plaats van 8 tot en met 11 maart in Cannes.

Het is het tweede project van ASSAR architecten dat genomineerd wordt voor een MIPIM Award. In 2000 werd Residentie Novalis, ook in Brussel genomineerd in de categorie Residentieel.

The 19,297-square-metre 8-storey office project includes 189 parking spaces and is characterised by an architecture which is juxtaposing timeless classicism and elegance with the transparency of contemporary modern design. Mondrian which evolves around a glass-enclosed atrium and an open-air courtyard integrates in its contemporary design the preserved façade of a former building of the 1920s. This spacious ensemble is bathed in an oasis of light throughout the vast interior volume. It is comprised of two units which can function either together as a single project, or separately. The two sections are connected by walkways which seem to float through the atrium, giving access to views over the esplanade on one side and over a landscaped garden on the other side. In addition, Mondrian features some of the largest floor plates in the Capital of Europe with typical levels comprised of more than 3,000 square metres.
